Oh Give Me Land, Lots of Land...

"Oh give me land, lots of land, and the starry skies above... don't fence me in!" We here we are in our new digs. The house is average (will need plenty of work) but the land is just wonderful (although it'll also need plenty of work). The move itself from the 'house that hallmark built' was a rather stressful one, owing to the nastiness & self centredness of the new purchasers. They wanted every convenience, graciousness and financial extension known to man afforded to them - but renegged on their informal acceptance of the extended settlement date. AND - they waited until 6 DAYS BEFORE the previous settlement date to grace us with their backflip! Why it took a week to inform us I don't know. Maybe they just like being mongrels...

Still, with all grace and dignity we could muster we put aside our annoyance and embraced the challenge. Fortunately we managed to pack up our whole house in just 6 days (most of it in 2/3, but the last minute stuff had to wait really, especially with a bub - hey she can go through a LOT of clothes & bedding even in just a week). The boys worked hard too, and they deserve special credit for their efforts.

So - come the 19th Feb we moved into the new house that 'hallmark definitely DIDN'T build'. Don't know what we'll officially call it - but any inconvenience of the house is easily forgiven after just 5 mins of sitting on the back deck. There's something about the view (even though it's overgrown) that's quite captivating. Looking over the yard towards Pine River at the back. And it's not too long before you can feel your heart beating just a pace or two slower. And that's a tonic that I'm really starting to love. So, enjoy this little pictoral tour...

We have Avocado's... and a macadmia nut tree, guava tree, mango tree, banana trees, several passionfruit vines, a mulberry bush, sarsparella shrub, basil and a lovely big rosemary bush! Funny then that I haven't had a garden for six years now...

Our back deck..

All that brown patch was so overgrown & tall, you couldn't see where the ground level lay. It took a whole weekend to clear that lot. That's the second water tank (overflow tank). You can't quite see the first one.

Looking across the middle of the yard towards the left hand side boundary. The tree in the top right houses two koalas..

Looking direct down the back yard towards the River (which is just behind the trees).

Another view of the back yard...

Lach is the official lawn mower extraordinaire. And he loves it! He thinks it's his own personal car!!
